I’m always looking for ways to add height to my table displays, and a tiered tray is the perfect solution. Today, I’m showing you how to take a mix of everyday items—like a white charger plate and an old cookie tin lid—and stack them into a stunning three-tier pedestal. This project is all about the layers and the bling, and I even found a fun way to use a giant plastic toy ring as the ultimate glam topper. Whether you use it for jewelry or tea sandwiches, it looks absolutely exquisite!

💡 Sandy’s Crafting Tips & Hacks
-
The Coverage Hack: If you are upcycling a tin lid with dark colors or branding, always apply a layer of primer first. This prevents the old design from peeking through your silver glitter paint and gives you a professional, opaque finish.
-
Upcycled Gallery Rail: Use silver book rings glued around the interior rim of your top tier. It creates a beautiful “fencing” effect that mimics high-end metal trays.
-
Double-Bond Method: For tiered projects, use Fix-All for the structural bond between plates and candlesticks. It’s a permanent adhesive that ensures your tray won’t wobble or collapse, unlike using hot glue alone.
-
Toy to Treasure: Don’t overlook the toy section! A giant plastic “diamond” ring becomes a perfect, expensive-looking handle once it’s wrapped in rhinestone ribbon.
Instructions
-
Embellish the Bottom Tier: Apply a row of rhinestone ribbon around the outer border of the large white charger plate using hot glue.
-
Detail the Middle Tier: Adhere a string of silver beaded necklace along the rim of your medium-sized plastic plate with hot glue.
-
Refinish the Top Tier: Apply primer to the cookie tin lid, followed by silver glitter paint. Once dry, wrap the sides of the lid in rhinestone ribbon.
-
Create the Top Gallery Rail: Glue silver book rings equidistantly around the interior perimeter of the tin lid to create a decorative edge.
-
Bling the Supports: Decorate your two candlestick holders with gem stickers to match the glam theme.
-
Start the Assembly: Apply Fix-All to the bottom of the first candlestick and center it onto the large charger plate.
-
Stack the Middle Tier: Apply Fix-All to the top of the first candlestick and carefully center the medium-sized plate on top.
-
Add the Final Support: Apply Fix-All to the bottom of the second candlestick and center it onto the middle plate.
-
Attach the Top Tier: Apply Fix-All to the top of the second candlestick and center the finished tin lid on top.
-
Add the Glam Topper: Embellish a giant plastic diamond ring with gems and rhinestone ribbon. Secure it to the very center of the top tier with Fix-All.
