Most people think of Halloween decor as orange plastic and spooky ghosts, but I believe the holiday can be just as sophisticated as it is festive. Today, I’m going to show you how to take humble materials from the dollar store—like shower curtain rings and silver bracelets—and upscale them into a shimmering set of glam pumpkin candle holders. These projects are fast, budget-friendly, and perfect for adding a touch of “boutique” to your seasonal tabletop.

💡 Sandy’s Favorite Crafting Tips & Hacks

  • The 10-Second Rule: When adhering curved items like bangles or rings to a glass base, don’t just glue and let go. To ensure a professional-grade bond, hold each piece firmly in place for at least 10 seconds to allow the glue to set.

  • The “Click” Stability Trick: Before you apply glue to shower curtain rings, always click the ends together firmly. This creates a solid, closed loop that is much easier to mount and won’t pull apart later.

  • Gem Selection: For the most stable pumpkin shape, look for glass gems that have flat ends on both sides. This creates a better contact point for the glue and helps the gems sit flush against the glass holder.

  • Glue String Cleanup: Since these candle holders are made of glass and silver, glue strings will be very visible. Once your pieces are cool, take a dry paintbrush and twirl those pesky “spiderwebs” away to keep your finish sparkling.

Instructions

Project 1: The Silver Bangle Pumpkin

  1. Prepare the Base: Use a silver hammered tealight holder as the center of your pumpkin.

  2. Mount the Bangles: Apply a small dollop of hot glue to the side of a silver bangle and adhere it vertically to the side of the holder.

  3. Complete the Circle: Repeat this with 8 bangles total, spacing them evenly around the circumference to create a beautiful, open-frame pumpkin shape.

Project 2: The Crystal Ring Pumpkin

  1. Prep the Rings: Click 15 clear shower curtain rings closed so the ends are secure.

  2. Adhere to Glass: Apply glue to the joint of each ring and mount them vertically to a clear glass tealight holder.

  3. Adjust the Density: Depending on the size of your holder, you can place them closer together or further apart to achieve the look you prefer.

Project 3: The Beaded Gem Pumpkin

  1. Choose the Vessel: Use a flatter glass tealight holder to give this pumpkin a wider, more traditional shape.

  2. Apply the Gems: Place a small dollop of glue on the edge of each medium-sized glass gem and adhere them vertically around the side of the holder.

  3. Finish and Glow: Once all gems are set, place a battery-operated LED candle inside to see the light catch the facets of the glass.
