The “Ball Bearing” Secret: You don’t need expensive hardware to make a tray rotate! Dumping a bag of glass gems or marbles into the base pan creates a smooth, effortless rotation that works just like professional ball bearings.
-
Maximum Bonding Duo: For a tray that will be handled and rotated, I always recommend my go-to trick: apply a generous amount of Fix-All for a permanent, structural hold and add a bit of hot glue for an immediate, quick set.
-
Curing for Quality: When bonding a mirror to metal, patience is key. I like to let my mirror sit overnight with a few heavy items on top to ensure it is perfectly secured and flush against the pan.
-
The Anchor Hack: To keep your rotating tray from sliding off the base, use ornament balls as “bumpers”. Placing them evenly around the circumference between the two pans locks everything in place while allowing full clockwise and counter-clockwise movement.
Instructions
-
Prepare the Mirror Base: Start by removing the paper from both 12-inch pizza pans. Apply a generous amount of Fix-All and a bit of hot glue to the first pan, then insert the 12-inch round mirror. Set heavy items on top and let it cure overnight to ensure a secure bond.
-
Embellish the Tray: Frame the mirror by applying self-adhesive rhinestone ribbon around the pan. For an extra touch of glam, glue a string of silver beaded necklace around the mirror’s edge to hide any gaps and create a professional finish.
-
Construct the Pedestal: Take the second pizza pan and turn it upside down. Wrap four silver napkin rings in glitter ribbon and glue them to the bottom of the pan to give your Lazy Susan height and stability.
-
Install the Secret Mechanism: Turn the base pan right-side up and set it on your table surface. Dump a full bag of glass gems or marbles into the pan; these will act as your rotation mechanism.
-
Secure and Assemble: Set your embellished mirror tray on top of the glass gems. To prevent the top pan from sliding off, glue eight silver ornament balls evenly apart between the two pans. Position them so the hanging caps point inward to hide the hardware.
