I am always looking for ways to rescue common household waste and engineer it into high-end home decor. Today, we are taking a sturdy tin container—the kind that usually ends up in the recycling bin—and upscaling it into a stunning, boutique-style flower box. By combining simple plastic spoons with shimmering rhinestone ribbon and roses, we can create a weighted, professional-grade statement piece that rivals designer gallery decor for just a few dollars.

💡 Sandy’s Crafting Tips & Hacks

  • The Mixed-Metal Secret: Don’t be afraid to mix your metallics! I love the subtle contrast of gold ornament legs against a silver tin base. It creates a multidimensional, high-end look that feels more like a custom boutique find than a DIY.

  • Zero-Waste Styling: I aspire to be zero-waste in my studio! When you snap the round heads off your spoons to create these corner columns, save the heads in a bin. They are perfect for my “petal” style mirrors or textured vases.

  • Bend, Don’t Cut: If you want to reuse your foam flowers for future projects, don’t cut the stems! Simply bend them to the desired length using your fingers, leaving about two centimeters at the bottom to anchor into the foam.

Instructions

  1. Wrap the Foundation: I start by covering all four sides of the tin container. Adhere a row of rhinestone ribbon along the top edge, right before your main diamond wrap starts, to ensure every inch of the original container is completely hidden.

  2. Construct Corner Columns: Snap the round heads off four silver plastic spoons. Apply a row of clear gem stickers along the arm part of each spoon, then adhere them vertically to the four corners of the tin with the wider part of the arm facing upright.

  3. Add Boutique Detailing: To give the box even more dimension, apply a string of flat pearls directly below the rhinestone ribbon. For the base, turn the container upside down and glue one small gold ornament ball to each corner to serve as elegant pedestal legs.

  4. Refine the Mixed-Metals: Once the legs are secured, add a bit of design flair by wrapping a strand of silver beaded necklace horizontally around each gold ornament ball. This ties the silver-and-gold theme together for a polished, architectural finish [Query].

  5. Style the Bloom: Place a square foam floral block in the center of the container and anchor it with a dollop of hot glue. Bend your foam rose stems and insert them into the foam until the box is full, repositioning them as necessary to achieve that flawless, “fiesta resistance” look [Query]!
